Although we here at Flickeria are more of an indie, art-house, foreign, cerebral flickster crew, bet Flickies still marvel each summer at Hollywood's obsession to return bigger, louder, brandeder and more 3-D'ed than last summer. As Hollywoodteurs continue to lower the bar on concept, Flickeria questions whether the next big Hollywood tentpole blockbuster vehicle attraction will be based on a card game - like Old Maid. But of course, it will be set in the future, action driven, shot in 3-D with a bevy of teenage vampires vying to save the world while contemplating their own state of virginity in their challenging cul-de-sac while coordinating cell phones with their magical transforming backpacks. Hmm, did I just make a bonafied Hollywood pitch. Hope this serves as copyright.

So far, it seems The Avengers has eclipsed the actual Summer Movies 2012 slate. As Avengers sets new records around the globe, Men In Black 3, Dark Shadows, Snow White and the Huntsman have not cast a tremendous cash flow back to the studios. We are already in June and there is no summer cinema punch. No need to fear, as June still has the most awaited non-sequel flick of the summer in Ridley Scott's Prometheus, Well Prometheus is kind of, sort of - a prequel to Aliens. Scratching my head too, but whatever, as July rolls around - POWW - another Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. Dark Knight is the last in the dark and moody bat series from wunderkind director Christopher Nolan. The new, well it is not really new, but the next or current Spiderman reboot, kicks off 4th of July weekend. Spiderman is now being portrayed by lanky Brit and relatively unknown Andrew Garfield. Like a fireman, you got to love and support Spidey. He's a good guy. August delivers the Total Recall remake, Sylvester Stallone in The Expendables 2 AND the next installation in the contemporary hipster version of James Bond, The Bourne Legacy sans Matt Damon and with Jeremy Renner.

Flickeria will not go into September as Sept usually the begins the first entre of story driven Oscar contenders with fresh, charming, thought provoking, historical, original and quirky films. Flick does not want to mix popcorn and popsicles nor movie-going with spectacle. Stayed tuned.
